Security Alarms - Not Just a Noisy Necessity!

Home Automation has become a modern requirement for homes and businesses alike. They can be great to save energy, increase comfort, increase security and make technology user friendly.

At ISC we promote simple features like automatic night-lights on you home detection devices.  These are a great idea when you or the children get up at night to go to the bathroom. Gentle lights come on when they detect movement and turn off automatically.  These devices can replace or compliment your current devices on your existing alarm system without much effort and minimal expense.

You can go extreme with home automation and with little expense in today's market.   Anything is possible with today's technology.  Those Sci-Fi movies which had us intrigued with their technology 10-20 years ago are actually behind the market of today's possibilities.

First, before you go out and buy the lot, consider what do you really need and what will you use after the novelty has worn off?  What will make your life easier? What could save you money? What could protect you and your family better?

First, before you go out and buy the lot, consider what do you really need and what will you use after the novelty has worn off?

What will make your life easier?
What could save you money?
What could protect you and your family?
What ongoing maintenance is required?

Next you need to consider how your product/s will be set up.  Check with the company offering your proposal before you engage them.

What experience do they have?
What products do they use & what is the warranty on parts and labour?
Is the product/s user friendly?
Can the product/s be managed by the end user or do you need subscriptions?
What redundancy is built in?

There are many more things to consider, but the above will give you a good starting point.  Redundancy is the biggest point I believe.  ISC have seen all too many occasions where homes and businesses have spent good money integrating alarms, CCTV, access control, air-conditioning, sprinkler systems, lighting etc to discover when one component fails, it all fails.  Be wary of this.

Home automation is great, but maybe consider a couple of options for redundancy and you have much better sleep at night, especially if only 1 item fails and the remainder keep you safe or comfortable.
