Security alarm systems & monitoring service agreements

Customer FAQs

Below are some questions International Security Consultants (ISC) customers typically ask. If you want clarification on any matter or have any additional queries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

What occurs when a security alarm system sends an alarm signal to the monitoring control room?

Whatever time of day or night the A1-graded control room receives an alarm signal from your security system, they will identify which zones have been activated and take appropriate action in accordance with your pre-determined instructions.

What happens if the alarm system is accidentally triggered?

Simply de-activate your alarm system by entering your security PIN into the codepad. Telephone the monitoring control room and advise the that you have accidentally triggered your alarm system. You will be asked to quote your password so that the control room can verify your identity and confirm that it is indeed an accidental activation.

What happens if my alarm panel communication to the monitoring control room stops working due to a fault?

Standard intruder alarm systems (digital diallers) can’t report alarms to the security monitoring centre if their phone line fails or the standard landline is disconnected or intentionally cut prior to a break-in. With any communication failures on these alarms, the control room will simply not receive any signals from your system. The GPRS / 4G communicators used by International Security Consultants (ISC) eliminate this problem.  The units are completely stand-alone from your home or business communication connections.  Best of all, it only takes 30 minutes to upgrade 99.9% of existing alarm systems on the market.

If the mains power fails, will my alarm system still work?

Yes. When your mains power goes off, your alarm system will continue to operate via a back-up battery. It is essential, however, to have this battery checked (and replaced if required) to ensure trouble-free protection. If your alarm system is monitored, a signal will be sent to the monitoring control room should your power and/or battery fail.

I’m keen to switch to ISC, however I’m unsure if I’m still under an existing agreement that my existing monitoring service will hold me to. How can I find out?

Most monitoring agreements are based over a three-year period. If you have a copy of your contract, you can send it through to ISC for review. Alternatively, simply give your current monitoring provider a call and they should be able to let you know over the phone.

Will it cost anything to cancel my current service to sign up with ISC?

If you are still under an existing monitoring agreement, this is entirely dependent on your existing monitoring provider. Some will ask for 30 days’ notice or payment in lieu. Contact ISC today to discuss what arrangements can be put in place to ensure you are not paying twice.

Once I sign up with ISC, should I cancel my existing monitoring service?

No. It’s recommended that you wait until ISC commences the actual monitoring your alarm first. ISC’s friendly technicians and office staff can assist with this process to prevent your existing control room cutting off your monitoring too early and leaving you unprotected.
