How often should I replace my alarm panel battery?
Alarm Panel Batteries are generally overlooked until they fail, then it becomes a mad rush to have it replaced. Especially as some alarm panels will beep until the new battery has been installed.
An Alarm Panel Battery's life will vary depending on the quality of the battery installed, how often it has been relied upon (i.e. how many power failures have occurred), as well as even the temperature can effect the battery life.
Whilst alarm panel batteries can last up to 5 years in a perfect situation, ISC recommends these batteries are replaced at least every 3 years. It is a small investment to ensure your alarm will continue to operate if the power goes out. There have been many recorded occurrences of criminals switching off power before breaking in. If your battery is no good, then the alarm is no good in this situation.
Don't wait for a power failure or incident to realise your battery needed replacing.
